Starbucks opens a new store downtown Madrid

    Madrid, 29th September, 2016.

Madrid; September 29, 2016.- As of today, downtown Madrid has a new Starbucks store located at calle Ciudad Rodrigo no. 5. The new location, which offers different areas inside and an outdoor terrace with 34 seats, employs 20 people, all baristas.

The store is located in an emblematic environment across from the San Miguel Market and on what is perhaps the most representative corner offering access to Madrid’s Main Square. The image transmits the brand’s values throughout the store with the design telling the story of Pike Place Market, the first Starbucks location in Seattle, and the history of coffee roasting, the brand’s essence since its establishment in 1971.

The historical essence of the original building architecture was respected throughout the construction of the store as the existing structure, which is a part of a complex built between 1617 and 1619, continues to be exposed in addition to the original locally handmade tiles, which are a wonderful inheritance from the past.

The main entrance is under the arched area of the Main Square with a traditional wooden facade which represents the style of Madrid’s historic downtown area. The indoor area, covering 91 m2, reflects architecture defined by the succession of very thick brick arches which were the main elements of the design and renovation in order to achieve an indoor atmosphere that is as unique as it is singular as part of one of the most characteristic monuments of the Villa of Madrid.

This decoration partially announces what customers may expect to find at Starbucks: customized beverages with different types of coffee, milk or syrups as well as beverages that are so well-known around the world like Latte or Cappuccino, Caramel Macchiato, Frappuccino and Mocha for those who love all things sweet in addition to a number of other options. A wide variety to have at the store or take away in the brand’s famous cups which have become quite the symbol.

Thus, Starbucks has created a new “third spot”, the ideal place between home and work where Madrid residents and visitors to the area may now enjoy the complete Starbucks experience. It’s a unique place in a cozy atmosphere where you can meet with friends, eat or work in a relaxed environment while enjoying excellent Arabica coffee and the more than 86,000 beverage varieties prepared in an artisan way ready to order by its baristas.

With this new opening, there are now 48 Starbucks stores throughout the city of Madrid, in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Pozuelo, Majadahonda, Alcobendas and Las Rozas as well as 2 other stores operated at the Adolfo Suarez Madrid Barajas airport through licensing.

Enjoy coffee and learn about coffee

The San Miguel Starbucks store has different areas for all different moments, from sofas to a large community table with Wi-Fi and carefully selected music which is updated each month. Coffee lovers an also go beyond this experience by attending the seminars and tasting sessions to be organized at the store. With these tasting sessions, Starbucks transmits its knowledge of this beverage which it has acquired over more than 40 years selecting and offering the world’s best coffee. Its expert Coffee Masters help those attending discover the different coffee varieties, the best way to taste them and how to make “perfect food pairings” with cookies, muffins or fruit to notice the most delicate of nuances.
