Starbucks, the leading coffee roaster and distributor in the world, opened its first store today in the Madrid city of Alcorcón at Avenida de Europa 22, in the Parque Oeste shopping area.
Ever since it opened this morning, hundreds of people have come to discover the brand’s new location. The Starbucks Alcorcón store has a staff of 15 baristas - coffee experts trained to be able to prepare up to 86,000 combinations of different and customized beverages to order in an artisan way. Customers who visit the new Starbucks Alcorcón store may choose everything from the type of coffee to the type of milk and syrups and enjoy the taste of the brand’s delicious beverages such as their famous Latte or Cappuccino made with the best 100% Arabica coffee and perfectly whipped milk. What’s more, they can find out about the different types of coffee, origins and roasting processes as well as the different nuances in taste and most adequate combinations to boost the characteristics of each variety right from the Starbucks baristas.
Starbucks comes to Alcorcón with micro poetry
To celebrate its arrival in Alcorcón, the brand has created an artistic display in front of the store using a giant Starbucks cup as the canvas. They have created a poetic initiative on this cup which reflects two verses in order to bring poetry closer to people and so it can become a part of the urban landscape. In order to do so, it has relied on the collaboration of twenty artists from Grupo AMÁS who have worked for two days hand-drawing three phrases on the original canvas promoting values like proactiveness, co-existence, respect for diversity and tolerance. Plus, these artists have replicated the phrases on hundreds of iconic Starbucks cups which will be given away to customers visiting the store randomly throughout this month.
This action is the start of collaboration between Starbucks and Grupo AMÁS, a local foundation that seeks to drive the inclusion of the mentally handicapped in the southern part of the Region of Madrid. Starbucks volunteers will also collaborate with the Grupo AMÁS Training School to help these people access the job market through the company and share knowledge with them on issues like competency and skills development, team work and customer service.
The opening of this new Starbucks is part of the expansion plan through which Starbucks wishes to increase its presence in the capital city and southern area of the Region of Madrid. With this one, Starbucks now has 59 stores in the Region of Madrid and 133 throughout Spain. This expansion will continue this year at a good pace in Spain where the brand plans to open some twenty new stores within the next few months.
