Starbucks inaugurates a second store in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

  • The all-new Starbucks store, which is in the Los Alisios shopping mall, occupies an indoor surface area of 80 m2 with a 40 m2 terrace.
  • With this opening, the location has created 14 jobs.
  • The design at these premises is inspired by the mall’s verticalness and uses wood to create a cozy atmosphere inside.

Starbucks, the leading coffee roaster and distributor in the world, opened its second store today in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.  The place chosen for the all-new Starbucks location is the Los Alisios shopping mall, which was recently inaugurated in a strategic area on the island.

This opening is the result of a collaboration agreement signed between Grupo Vips and Amura Food S.L., the leading Canary Island restaurant company, which already manages several Grupo Vips flagships on the Iberian Peninsula. Based on this agreement, Amura Food has become the exclusive partner to develop the Starbucks brand on the islands with Grupo Vips holding the exclusive license for Spain and Portugal.

The opening of this store is part of the expansion plan aimed at the brand strengthening its presence on the Canary Islands. To this end, the Canary Island archipelago is a key region both because of its potential as a local market as well as its status as a tourist enclave for thousands of people each year. 

The all-new Starbucks store features an 80 m2 store area and a 40 m2 terrace.  The store’s interior design is warm and cozy with the use of natural wood to create a contrast with the shiny materials used for the mall.


14 baristas to help guests discover the coffee trends this season

In order to offer guests the best service, the Starbucks at the Los Alisios shopping mall relies on 14 of its now-famous baristas (coffee experts), who are trained to prepare up to 86,000 different and personalized combinations of beverages to order in an artisan way.  Customers may choose everything from the type of coffee to the type of milk and syrups and enjoy the taste of the brand’s delicious beverages such as their famous Latte or Cappuccino made with the best 100% Arabica coffee and perfectly whipped milk to create the best cream.


Verticalness and transparency, the identity marks of the all-new Starbucks in Los Alisios

The new Starbucks in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria features verticalness in its design. In accordance with the modern look of the Los Alisios shopping mall, the store floor plan was projected to reflect its height.  Thus, the use of large glass windows makes the entire store visible from the outside to create an even greater feeling of transparency and dynamism.

On the inside, the location occupies 80 m2 and there’s a 40 m2 terrace on the outside. The store furnishings are made of natural wood for a feeling of warmth throughout. Dynamic elements were chosen for the decor to help communicate the company’s history. This is the case of the sculpture on the bar as well as the work of art presiding over the premises representing the origins of coffee.
