A new Ginos opens in Majadahonda

    Madrid, 30 April 2015 - Ginos, the restaurant chain which specializes in Italian cuisine created by Grupo Vips at the end of the 1980's is opening a new location today under a franchise agreement in Majadahonda, situated in the Business Park Block 2, near the popular shopping mall Gran Plaza 2.

    This location is the franchisee's second investment as it recently inaugurated a VIPS at the same location.  The opening involved an investment of €440,000 and the creation of 24 jobs.

    With this new Ginos, the brand now has a total of 93 restaurants in Spain (79 internally owned and 14 franchises). The place features a surface area of 450 m2 with a capacity to host up to 121 diners in the dining room and 62 on the terrace.

    A Commitment to Franchising

    This new opening under the franchise system is the result of Grupo Vips' strong commitment to this means of expansion. After having grown for decades operating as internally owned entities to create a network of more than 350 locations, Grupo Vips decided in March 2013 to strengthen its franchising project (which began in 2010 with its Ginos brand) by adding its most notorious chain, VIPS Cafeterias, as well as its Quick Service-adapted version, VIPSmart.

    The project continues to grow with the company currently operating a total of 36 establishments under the franchise system: 12 VIPS, 10 VIPSmart and 14 Ginos restaurants.

    Ginos, a 100% updated concept

    The new Ginos reflects the brand's transformation as it has been completely re-invented with an in-depth revision of its value proposal for an updated concept, attraction and competitiveness. The completely renewed restaurant design includes an open oven where customers can watch the restaurant's pizzaiolo make their super thin crust pizzas, bread and focaccias ready-to-order from the all-new menu. It also includes a bar at the entrance where guests may have an appetizer or have dinner or supper, which makes for a more versatile Ginos with two atmospheres: on the one hand, the area with high tables, and on the other, the dining room - two spots for different eating occasions.

    With this complete overhaul of its design and furniture in addition to the updated service model, Ginos has culminated the transformation process it began in early 2012 with the complete modification of its culinary offering with improved recipes for its classic dishes as well as the inclusion of all-new dishes. Moreover, new personalized ways to try and share its dishes have been created with offers such as "A Modo Tuo", for example.  This formula allows guests to create their own pasta or pizza dish with their preferred ingredients which the Ginos chefs make on the spot.

    Italian cuisine as a gathering place

    The new decoration of the Ginos restaurants aims to transmit the feeling of a real Italian kitchen - the most important room in a home, a gathering place for family and friends - where lunches, dinners and snacks can be improvised in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.

    The interior design was developed by ILMIODESIGN (, a firm owned by Italian interior designer Michele Corbani and her partner, an industrial designer of Italian origin as well, Andrea Spada. Both of them have worked to create a cozy restaurant that has nothing to do with the typical traditional Italian trattoria design.

    The aesthetics of the new Ginos is in line with a current trend: a modern urban country style. Noble materials were used for its construction such as untreated natural wood, which gives rise to rough surfaces without polishing or shining and very comfortable furniture including Chester sofas. Hints of an industrial style can be found throughout the restaurant with the use of steel sheeting, metal and factory lamps yet just a little, to prevent guests from feeling cold.

    The lighting plays an essential role in the creation of two different atmospheres for the new restaurant, with more boisterous and clear lighting during the day and dimmer, more intimate lighting at night.

    Freshly made dishes with imported ingredients

    The all-new Ginos menu proposes real Italian cuisine where artisan preparation is predominant in the dishes. Thus, top quality ingredients are directly imported from Italy such as the dry and fresh pasta from Puglia, the Pecorino, Parmiggiano and 100% buffalo mozzarella cheeses and the arrotolata (rolled) pancetta bacon in some of its pizza and pasta recipes.

    The result is a menu comprised of very carefully presented freshly-made generous and abundant dishes with intense flavors which includes a wide variety of antipasti, salads, hand-tossed pizzas, pasta, desserts and an extensive list of Spanish and Italian wines.
