Zaragoza; July 28, 2016 – VIPS, the leading restaurant chain in Spain and an Official Supplier of the FEB, organized a game in Zaragoza to promote school counselling in collaboration with the María Auxiliadora Foundation Mancala Center.
The event, which took place on a covered court located at Avenida de la Almozara 65, featured the participation of 15 boys and girls aged 12-16 from the Centro de Tiempo Libre Sin Mugas leisure center run by the organization. Also participating were more than ten VIPS volunteers. At the end of the event, those attending were able to enjoy a snack at the Plaza de Aragón VIPS.
The Mancala Center was founded in 1995 to develop prevention and social and job insertion projects in the Actur neighborhood in Zaragoza. For Jessica Clemente, coordinator at CTL Sin Mugas, “the goal of this initiative is for young people to bring restaurant values to the court: the importance of each person’s role and of teamwork”.
This event is one of the sports promotion and corporate responsibility actions developed as part of the agreement reached with the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and its Women's Universe project, a comprehensive program led by the FEB in collaboration with the Spanish Higher Council for Sports, to promote women's sport and the values it transmits in society. Thus, VIPS also set up different activities in Zaragoza for the final game this afternoon ahead of Rio in the Principe Felipe Pavilion between the Spanish and Ivory Coast men’s teams.
VIPS installed a tent in the fan zone for this afternoon’s national team game in the area surrounding the Principe Felipe Pavilion which was open to all visitors. Basketball fans could test their skills in a three-pointer competition and win promotional 10x30 coupons for the Plaza de Aragón VIPS as well as different gifts to cheer on the national team.
