Oviedo, June 9, 2016 - VIPS, the leading restaurant chain in Spain, is beginning the activation of sports and corporate responsibility promotion actions in Oviedo as part of the two-year agreement it reached in April with the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and their Universo Mujer (Women’s Universe) project.
This collaboration agreement converted VIPS in the Official Supplier of the Spanish Basketball Federation and saw it also joining Women's Universe, a comprehensive program led by the Spanish Basketball Federation in collaboration with the Spanish Higher Council for Sports, to promote women's sport and the values it transmits in society.
VIPS accompanies the FEB on the Pre-Olympic Rio 2016 Tour with activities
As part of the agreement with the FEB, VIPS is accompanying the Spanish women’s and men’s teams to their preparation games this summer in all the cities where the brand is present. The men’s team has already secured its participation in Rio 2016 while the women’s team is playing for it during the Nantes Pre-Olympics. Coinciding with the different games, VIPS is organizing different activities to promote the values it shares with the FEB such as teamwork, commitment, effort and excitement for the future. Thus, it is organizing activities related to job orientation, inclusive sports promotion, healthy leisure and the role of women in sports and society in conjunction with different local organizations with talks, conferences and charity games, among other activities.
So, VIPS has set up several activities in Oviedo for this afternoon for the game to be held in the Pumarín sports center between the Spanish and New Zealand women’s teams.
In collaboration with the Red Cross, VIPS held a workshop aimed at women in a vulnerable situation at its Intu Asturias restaurant in Lugones where they could find out first hand and practice working at a restaurant in different roles, the importance of teamwork and the keys to customer service. The event which included the participation of VIPS volunteers ended with a job orientation workshop with advisors so these women would improve and learn how to better reflect themselves when searching for a job.
In addition to this activity, VIPS installed a tent in the fan zone during today’s national team game in the area surrounding the Pumarín stadium, which was open to all visitors. Basketball fans could test their skills in a three-pointer competition and win gifts and invitations to the Intu Asturias VIPS restaurant-cafeteria.
