Madrid, 7 October 2015.- The Azca area now has a new Starbucks store located at Paseo de la Castellana nº 75, at the emblematic El Corte Inglés department store on the same street. The new store, which employs 17 people, contributes to the invigoration and diversification of the service offering the area by providing the thousands of workers and tourists with a place to take a break, relax or meet up while enjoying an excellent cup of coffee.
The premises, situated on the ground floor as part of a collaboration agreement Starbucks signed with the department store for nationwide implementation, occupies an area of 140 meters squared and features a 65 m2 outdoor terrace-lounge, which welcomes customers to the department store.
The store has more than 61 seats indoors and 46 on the terrace with a design that creates comfortable atmospheres inspired by the nature and beauty of the three most important coffee-growing regions in the world. The use of natural and sustainable materials such as oak, steel with a raw finish and structural concrete reflects the Starbucks essence which is based on the sobriety and natural elegance of the Earth.
According to Rebeca Rubio, the Construction Manager for Starbucks Spain, “the original reinforced concrete structure of the building is highlighted at this new store. Plus, the irreplaceable Italian marble flooring was recovered and integrated with the micro-cement floors and the wiring in the ceiling was left exposed to contrast with the warmth of the noble natural oakwood". Also quite important is the outdoor terrace which is framed by bamboo plants to separate the chill-out area from a more dynamic area to enjoy the best coffee after a day of shopping or work.
Thus, Starbucks has created a new "3rd spot" between home and work which transmits the brand's values through the store design: sustainability, a refuge, intimacy, community, the legacy of the past... where Madrid residents and visitors to the area may now enjoy the complete Starbucks experience. Sofas, relaxing music, customized beverages, the smell of recently-ground coffee and free wireless internet access as well as the opportunity to have a perfect cup of coffee, whether a single origin coffee, the classic Latte, the exclusive Caramel Macchiato or the all-new Flat White.
In the words of Álvaro Salafranca, CEO of Starbucks Spain and Portugal “we are pleased to open a new store in such an emblematic area for Madrid's business and commercial life as is the Castellana. For us, it is an excellent opportunity to become even closer to our customers and be able to offer them the best Starbucks experience".
With this new opening, Starbucks now has 80 internally owned stores in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga and Seville as well as another 10, which are being operated at airports under licensing agreements.
To celebrate this very special occasion, Starbucks sent out 5,000 invitations and samples of its classic Espresso Roast which have flooded the area with the aroma of the best coffee.
Autumn has arrived with Starbucks
The new store in Bilbao is arriving in the perfect season to enjoy Starbucks' seasonal novelties such as the long-awaited Flat White, which has become a homage to the art of the baristas who are capable of finding the perfect balance in this beverage. The extra shot of ristretto makes it more intense than a latte yet the foamed milk makes it softer than a cappuccino. Starbucks baristas are capable of making the steamed milk form layers over it to create silky micro-cream that provides the Flat White with its texture and the white part of latte art which provides the signature touch.
This season's single origin coffee comes all the way from Guatemala: Starbucks Origin Espresso Guatemala Antigua can be used in all coffee beverages to add some subtle hints of cacao and spices. It's perfect for a Flat White or a Latte in the morning.
And following last year's success, back again are Pumpkin Spice Latte, the most fun beverage at Starbucks and one of the most-awaited, and Hot Mulled Fruits, a very spicy tea beverage with dehydrated fruit and a whole lot of flavor which is perfect for warming up on those cold autumn nights.
All of these beverages may be served with new treats like the all-new Cheese Toastie, the start of a new family of salty foods at Starbucks which is ideal for breakfast, lunch or supper, or the all-new Nutella Cookie, made with an oatmeal dough and filled with Nutella cream for a cookie that is unique in the market and perfect for any time of the day.
And for those who love the brand, the collection of mugs and tumblers now come with the most autumn of colors like orange, blue and brown as the perfect accessories when enjoying the best coffee this season.
