A Coruña; October 5, 2016. Starbucks, the leading coffee roaster in the world, opened its first store today in A Coruña at El Corte Inglés in the Marineda City shopping mall at carretera Baños de Arteixo s/n. This store is also the brand’s first in the Galician region. Everyone who visits the new store may get the “Starbucks experience” from their baristas: the perfect place between work and home to meet with friends, eat or work in a relaxed environment while enjoying excellent Arabica coffee and the more than 86,000 beverage varieties prepared in an artisan way ready to order by their 14 baristas.
A unique place to enjoy the best coffee and learn to taste it
The A Coruña Starbucks store has 140 m2 and 42 seats throughout different areas for all different moments, Wi-Fi and carefully selected music which is updated each month.
The maritime conditions of A Coruña inspired the design of this store based on the history of the mythic Starbucks mermaid, the logo emblem and the brand’s beacon since it was founded in 1971. It’s a look that dates back to the brand’s origins and reminds customers of the city’s own seafarer setting.
Plus, Starbucks wishes to share all of the knowledge it has gained over the more than 40 years it has been selecting and offering the world’s best coffee with coffee fans. So, this new store will periodically organize free seminars and tasting sessions led by an expert Coffee Master where those attending may discover and try the unique features of the different coffees which depend on the region where the beans are grown as well as find out the best way to drink and combine this beverage in order to savor all of the nuances.
“We’re very pleased to open our first store in A Coruña, a place with many of the brand’s fans and enthusiasts. We were really hoping to get here. We found the perfect location where we can offer all visitors to our store the best experience with the best coffee and we’re proud today to inaugurate this site by the hand of El Corte Inglés, reference Starbucks partners in Spain,” said Álvaro Salafranca, General Manager of Starbucks in Spain, Portugal and Andorra.
The A Coruña store is the eleventh Starbucks to open in Spain thanks to the collaboration agreement signed with El Corte Inglés. Stores have already been inaugurated in cities like Bilbao, Alicante, Malaga, Madrid, Murcia and Oporto under this agreement. Moreover, Starbucks plans to open a second store in the Galician capital city very soon.
