Palma de Mallorca; May 23, 2017. Starbucks, the leading coffee roaster in the world, opened its first location in the center of the city of Palma, at Plaça de Cort, no. 14. This opening is the result of an agreement between Starbucks España S.L. and the Majorcan company Enjoy International S.L., which has become the brand’s local partner with exclusive operation rights for the island of Majorca.
The inauguration featured the presence of the City Councilor for Tourism, Commerce and Employment of Palma, Joana María Adrover, who participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony. The brand is already present in Palma with a store at Fan Mallorca Shopping and another at the airport.
The opening of this new Starbucks is part of the expansion plan through which the brand wishes to consolidate its presence on the Balearic Islands. So, the island of Palma de Mallorca is a key region because of its status as a tourism hotspot and the Balearic capital city.

To this end, Ferrer also explained that “this new store is the best example of the brand’s essence since it combines decorative elements that are typical of the island with the cutting edge design Starbucks is known for. We know that many Majorcan fans of the brand had asked for more centrally-located stores to be opened in order to enjoy the authentic Starbucks experience, so this location and the future openings being worked out right now are the best answer we could give them”.
Island tradition and cutting edge industrial design
The new store has a surface area of 258 m2 with 82 seats. To create a balanced and comfortable atmosphere, the choice was made to use decoration that combines island tradition with the cutting edge industrial design typical of the brand. Thus, the marble floors harmoniously mix with the wood, hand-painted ceilings that have maintain their originality while the copper-clad elements are combined with natural stone collected from around the island.
Functionality was the aim with the interior design. For this reason, the wood paneling was also used on the coffee tables. The idea was for the furnishings to transcend their functionality and perfectly blend with the building’s original design.
19 baristas offering the best personal coffee experiences
In order to offer guests the best service, the first Starbucks in the center of Palma employs 19 of its now-famous baristas (coffee experts), who are trained to prepare up to 86,000 different and personalized combinations of beverages to order and in an artisan way. Customers may choose everything from the type of coffee to the type of milk and syrups and enjoy the taste of Starbucks’ delicious beverages such as their famous Latte or Cappuccino made with the best 100% Arabica coffee and perfectly whipped milk to create the best cream.
Moreover, guests at the Starbucks in Plaça de Cort square may try the brand’s new products based on the cold coffee trend, Cold Brew, which is obtained by infusing 100% Arabica coffee with water at room temperature for 20 hours, and Cappuccino Freddo, the cold version of the genuine Starbucks cappuccino.
