Madrid; September 5, 2016.- Grupo Vips has reorganized the management team responsible for its business divisions with the aim of reinforcing its structure during this phase of growth and recovering its leaderships. Grupo Vips closed 2015 as its best year since 2008, with all indicators proving positive and turnover totaling 377.6 million euros.
Beatriz Pardo, who up until had been the General Manager of VIPS, VIPSmart and GINOS, has left the Group for personal reasons to live abroad. Beatriz Pardo successfully led the transformation of the VIPS, VIPSmart and GINOS chains for five years, more than meeting the ambitious transformation goals the Group had established.
After her leave, Grupo Vips decided it was the right time to separate the management of the VIPS and GINOS chains in order to speed up their growth. So, María Jesús García has joined the Group to lead the VIPS brand, which includes VIPS and VIPSmart, and Alberto Chamorro was named General Manager of GINOS.
Alberto Chamorro has been with the Group for more than two decades, moving through different management positions in operations where he has performed his responsibilities with great intensity and dedication. For the last two years, he held the position of Director of Franchise Operations and was responsible for the launch and coordination of Grupo Vips franchises.
On the other hand, María Jesús García has joined Grupo Vips to take on the role of General Manager of VIPS. With a degree in law and business from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE E3), she has more than 20 years of experience in management positions at companies like Continente (currently known as Carrefour), AVIS and National Atesa. She is currently the Managing Director for Spain and Portugal of Costa Cruceros.
Following the agreement signed by Grupo Vips and Wagamama to develop and operate the brand in Spain and Portugal, Álvaro Salafranca assumed the leadership for this new brand which is expected to open its first location in Spain in Madrid in the first quarter of 2017. The experience that comes with Álvaro Salafranca, the current General Manager of Starbucks Spain and Portugal, Fridays and The Wok, with the launch and management of international brands is a guarantee for the successful launch of Wagamama in Spain and Portugal.
“The strength of the management team along with the Group’s experience and the addition of outside talent will help us successfully take on this new growth and leadership phase”, said Enrique Francia, CEO of Grupo Vips.
