Grupo Vips renews its commitment to Corporate Responsibility

Madrid, 3 July 2015Grupo Vips, the leading multi-band and multi-format company in the restaurant and retail sector has presented the results of its 2012-2014 Corporate Responsibility Framework Plan which outlines the achievements  made over the last three years along with the specific results for 2014. Likewise, the Group has outlined the renewal of its commitments until 2017 to involve the entire value chain in its Corporate Responsibility.  

The project, known as "A Table for Everyone" has guided the company's business actions over the last few years aimed at creating a society that is more committed and with opportunities for everyone.

Results of the first three years

Grupo Vips has more than 10 years of experience in the area of Corporate Responsibility although its first Framework Plan was launched in 2012. The results of these three years are connected to five areas of action.

In the area of community participation, 850 volunteers have cooperated with various activities and invested more than 5,300 hours. Moreover, the company has collaborated with more than 40 entities, assisting a number of groups.

As far as job insertion, Grupo Vips has hired 551 people at risk of social exclusion, has assisted with the training of 621 young people through its internship program and has participated in job orientation services for another 451 people.

Contributing to a healthy diet is also one of the company's corporate commitments. Thus, the Group has reinforced its initiative of completing its offer with menus that are suitable for people with special needs which has in the availability of a special menu for people with coeliac disease at 247 of its restaurants over the last three years.

As concerns sustainability and the environment, Grupo Vips has been able to reduce energy consumption by 36.25% since 2012 as part of its constant sarch for actions to improve its environmental impact. In 2014 alone, nearly 231,000 liters of used cooking oil from all of the Group's locaitons were recycled and transformed into biodiesel.

Furthermore, the company's commitment to Food Bank donations and the sale of charity products has increased 54% in 2014 in comparison to the year before.

In the words of Enrique Francia, CEO of Grupo Vips, the figures and results mean "we continue to think long-term today and that is why we are renewing our commitment to the communities where we are present through a new Framework Plan. It is a commitment that is shared by all of us which will set forth the path to be taken over the next three years."

The goals for 2015-2017

The new 2015-2017 Framework Plan has been designed based on the experience of the last few years in order to maintain and fulfil the Grupo Vips commitments long-term with all of its stakeholders. Over the next three years, the goal will continue to be the creation of value for the company's collaborators, the contribution of practical solutions to the specific needs around it and consolidating and boosting synergies among the different training and job market entry programmes. Moreover, the company has decided to move forward with its processes to meet customer needs in order to attain excellence in quality.

These goals shall be met by encouraging the participation of all employees as concerns the needs around them, working to create jobs and opportunities, and fostering healthy eating habits.
