Grupo Vips, one of the leading restaurant and retail multi-brand and multi-format groups in Spain, has reinforced its commitment to people with celiac disease by renewing its gluten-free offering at its 116 VIPS and VIPSmart restaurants. Plus, the 12 Fridays restaurants are offering gluten-free dishes on their menus for the first time ever.
The new VIPS, VIPSmart and Fridays offering has been developed over a period of one year by chefs and the Grupo Vips R+D team in close contact with their gluten intolerant customers and based on their recommendations and suggestions.
Thus, the new menus include gluten-free versions of the brands' most iconic dishes such as the Vips Club Sandwich, Sautéed Oriental Chicken and Pancakes as well as the BBQ Ribs, Classic Buffalo Wings and Mexican Burger available at Friday's, among others.

Moreover, the three brands have taken special care with the food handling protocols and gluten-intolerant customer service with specific equipment, dishes and procedures to be activated in the kitchens and dining rooms. Grupo Vips has high quality standards supported by the main celiac disease associations such as FACE, the Spanish Federation of Celiac Disease Associations, the Catalan Celiac Disease Association and the Celiac Disease and Gluten Sensitive Association of Madrid.
VIPS, a pioneer chain and leader in its commitment to gluten-free food
The VIPS restaurant commitment to people with celiac disease goes all the way back to the year 2007 when the first gluten-free dishes were added to the menu. VIPS restaurants again renewed their commitment to people with celiac disease in 2013, when they updated their menus and included their own gluten-free recipes to become the first restaurant chain in Spain to provide a gluten-free offering at all of their restaurants.
Now, in 2016, VIPS and VIPSmart are taking one more step with the development of an all-new gluten-free menu in collaboration with their gluten intolerant customers by means of an active listening process at the restaurants as well as via social media and the customer service center.
Thus, VIPS and VIPSmart are now presenting gluten-free versions of some of their most iconic dishes such as their famous Vips Club Sandwich and Sautéed Oriental Chicken in addition to improved gluten-free recipes of their well-known Vips pancakes, Super Bacon Cheese Burger and cheese nachos, all artisan made with a special recipe. The gluten-free offering is also being expanded to breakfasts and snacks with the inclusion of an Andalusian breakfast and toasted rolls.
Plus, the chain is presenting a child's menu at a very low cost, just €6.95, at VIPS restaurant-cafeterias and €5.95 at VIPSmart.
Fridays launches a gluten-free menu
Fridays, the leader in the best American cuisine which is operated in Spain by Grupo Vips, has also joined the commitment to offer gluten-free versions of a selection of its most iconic dishes.
People with gluten intolerance can now enjoy a complete gluten-free menu which includes a selection of three appetizers, four main dishes and two desserts including BBQ Ribs, Classic Buffalo Wings and the Mexican Burger, among others. These dishes may be combined with different beverage choices.

It is estimated that approximately 1% of the European population has celiac disease, with it being more common in women in a proportion of 2:1 according to FACE data.
