- The more than 400 Grupo Vips brand restaurants and cafés in Spain and Portugal (VIPS, VIPS Smart, Ginos, Starbucks, Fridays and wagamama) will turn off all of the lights at their locations on March 24th for an hour to spread awareness for climate change.
Grupo Vips is participating for the ninth year in a row in “Earth Hour”, the initiative promoted by WWF which urges everyone to turn off their lights for an hour as a gesture symbolizing environmental defense and the fight against climate change.
This year, “Earth Hour” will take place on March 24th from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., when the more than 400 Grupo Vips brand restaurants and cafés in Spain and Portugal (VIPS, VIPS Smart, Ginos, Starbucks, Fridays and wagamama) will turn off the lights on their facades.
“With this initiative, we’d like to show Grupo Vips’ support and implication with the global issue of climate change and spread awareness for the importance of sustainable consumption,” says the Grupo Vips Director of Corporate Responsibility and Talent Management.
Grupo Vips’ participation in this WWF initiative is part of its commitment to sustainable management. To this end, it has an environmental management plan based on various lines of action: energy from renewable sources, sustainable and responsible consumption of water and paper, adequate waste management and CO2 emissions reduction.
