Celebrating the first anniversary of the Club VIPS App

Madrid, April 28, 2016The Club VIPS App, the Grupo Vips loyalty program, which is pioneer and a leader in the restaurant sector in Spain, has just completed its first year of life  as one of the company's strategic digital assets.

Twelve months after its launch, the Club VIPS App, which is free and available for IOS and Android and combines all of the brands operated by Grupo Vips in Spain, has been downloaded 400,000 times which is 33% above the goal the club had set out for the first year of the App's operation.

Moreover and just one year after the launch of the App, more than 20% of the transactions completed by Club VIPS members are now done through the application (the remainder continue to be via the card). This percentage is growing from month to month and proves the fast adoption and positive assessment of the functionalities and additional services given to users by this digital tool so they can enjoy the advantages of Club VIPS and the experience as a customer of Grupo Vips establishments.

What’s more, this jump and commitment to digitization and mobility by Club VIPS is helping to make the member portfolio younger by attracting digital natives.

The Club Vips App is known for its triple focus: commercial, relational and facilitating for Grupo Vips customers. Of the many functionalities offered to users by the App, the most commonly-used during this first year has been the mobile payment functionality.

The different payment methods offered by the Club VIPS App include the most traditional such as a payment gateway through a virtual POS, to next-generation ones like Pay in 1 Click and the  Club VIPS Coin Purse through which members may load cash into their accounts or other members' accounts (for children, friends, etc.). To this end, nearly 40% of all transactions performed with the App are to make payments.

The second most commonly used functionality is ordering, followed in third place by the functionality that allows customers to book tables at chains that offer the service like Ginos, Fridays, the Wok and the singular restaurants Rugantino, Lucca and Tattaglia.

 

A constantly evolving App

The work philosophy that characterizes the development of the Club VIPS App is that it must always be "in beta", launching new versions periodically in order to improve, optimize and innovate permanently in order to remain up-to-date and always a step ahead of users' expectations.

Thus, the Club VIPS App has included new functionalities in the first quarter of 2016 such as the Wi-Fi button which members can use to connect to the Internet with just one click at any of the more than 350 Grupo Vips locations.

Plus, the possibility of sharing App information right away through WhatsApp, social media or email as well as saving special offers on paper in the App has been included this year as well. 

Now it is also possible to get the latest Club VIPS news through the App in addition to information on new dishes created under the different Grupo Vips brands and new openings and services.

On the other hand, members who use an iPhone, version 5s or later, may access the App using their digital fingerprint (Touch ID).

Added to the new functionalities are the same benefits as always of Club VIPS (EuroVIPS and special offers) and the various payment options offered by the App to complete transactions securely, quickly and easily, order out (Take Away), check the allergen lists for each dish, locate restaurants that best fit a user's preferences and make reservations.

In 2015, the App was recognized as the best mobile App of the year by Marcas de Restauración (formerly known as Fehrcarem) and as one of the top 50 digital ideas of the year by Expansión Digital because of how innovative and pioneer it is being in the restaurant sector and in the world of loyalty programs in Spain.
