Madrid, 30th June, 2017.

Grupo Vips, one of the lead players in Spain’s restoration industry, has recently celebrated the graduation of its students from the 2016-2017 edition of the “Road to Employment” program, which aims to boost employability among people in vulnerable situations.

The event was held at Fundación Botín in the presence of the Managing Director of Grupo Vips, Enrique Francia, and the Head of Talent Management and CSR, María Calvo. During the ceremony, almost 100 students were acknowledged for their hard work after several months learning all about responsibility, teamwork and decision making from the company’s professionals. These young people came from organizations such as the La Rueca Association, Fundación ACOBE, Fundación ADRA, Fundación Altius Francisco de Vitoria, the Spanish Red Cross, CEAR, Fundación Exit, Pinardi and Fundación Tomillo, which Grupo Vips has been collaborating with over the various stages of the program.

“Road to Employment” is a comprehensive employability program for young people organized by Grupo Vips. It comprises several stages with the aim of guiding students throughout their journey into the working world, including skills training and hands-on experience in a real work environment.

Over 250 students from year 2016-2017 graduated yesterday. As they arrived, the graduates wrote messages for all to see showing the challenges they hoped to overcome over the years ahead.

A plan in constant motion

The “Road to Employment” program is one of the most significant commitments undertaken by Grupo Vips. Many of the company’s professionals play their part in the initiative to encourage the professional integration of vulnerable groups. Thanks to this program, which is designed to enhance the skills of young people, Grupo Vips has guided 1,100 students since 2014 towards employability, and has added 1,000 people at risk to its workforce.

In 2016, a total of 447 young people took part in the company’s pre-work training initiatives, and 393 people in vulnerable situations were hired.
